RAW-Straight out of camera - photography unedited

A portrait is based on a flow of give and take, on mutual trust and respect.

Black and white portrait of a man wearing black eyeliner, curly hair and a woolly grey thick knit jumper

“Elias” May 2022

Elias and I met in the spring.

We worked together over a period of two days. An amazing number of fabulous images came together and have made it to award status.

I have to confess to having a wee fable for the portraits in this post. Raw, real, authentic.

Clean, elegant black and white images stripped of all pretence, radiating trust and unanticipated depth. These make my heart smile.

They are so real, so raw natural.

His whole being is wearing the jumper. Not the model but the man he is and the boy he once was. Despite being in a position of vulnerability, he let me in. Reverently, I softly tiptoed into his space where he had layed his cards on the table. Aces, Kings, Queens all layed out, face-up, witness to real pain, untapped strength and incredibly deep intangible beauty.

Cutting through shielded privacy, we met in the zone, somewhere in-between. Hidding turned into a series of amazing multifaceted potraits.

As a photographer, I am aware of the power I have been gifted. Thank you for allowing me to see you and hold a mirror up to your irrefutable beauty.
